ZA'ATAR HUMMUS

The perfect addition to any Middle Eastern mezze, this homemade hummus with Za'atar is best served with warm pita bread or pita chips.
This homemade Za'atar Hummus recipe uses the Great Northern Spice Za'atar Seasoning.
INGREDIENTS
1 teaspoon of Great Northern Spice Za'atar Seasoning
1 full tin of chickpeas (drained)
4 tablespoons of well-stirred tahini
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, from 1 large lemon (60ml)
1 small garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (leave an extra 2 tablespoons for serving)
Half a teaspoon of salt
3 tablespoons cold water
HOW TO MAKE
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend for 30 seconds. Stir and ensure any bits haven't stuck to the side. Blend again for another 30 seconds until smooth.
Add your smooth hummus to a serving bowl and pour the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil around the edge.
Finish by sprinkling the remaining half a teaspoon of Za'atar over the hummus.
Serve with warm pitta bread and enjoy!
WHEN TO ENJOY
Serve with warm pitta bread on a platter for everyone to enjoy as part of a Middle Eastern mezze experience. Or, simply enjoy for lunch with breadsticks.
STORE IN THE FRIDGE
Leave to completely cool and store in a tight container your fridge for up to 4 days. Adding a layer of olive oil with preserve it for longer.
