INGREDIENTS

  • 3 teaspoons of Great Northern Spice Louisiana Red Cajun Seasoning

  • 1 pack of 12 pork chipolata sausages

  • 1 teaspoon black onion seeds

  • 1 pack of ready rolled puff pastry (trust us it's a time saver) - take out of the fridge for 10 minutes before making the sausage rolls. Vegetarian/vegan

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • Flour for dusting

VEGETARIAN / VEGAN OPTIONS

  • 1 pack of 12 plant based sausages

  • 1 pack of Jus-Rol ready rolled puff pastry (certified vegetarian/vegan) - take out of the fridge for 10 minutes before making the sausage rolls

  • Soy milk, mixed with a pinch of turmeric to make it look more golden

HOW TO COOK - OVEN

  1. Take your pastry out of the fridge for 10 minutes before making the sausage rolls. Then, preheat the oven to 180ºC.

  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pastry on to the flour and cut it lengthways into two long, even rectangles. Now, brush the pastry half rectangles with the egg wash or soy milk.

  3. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of Louisiana Red Cajun Seasoning on each half rectangle of pastry. Then, add 6 sausages in a line in the centre of each half.

  4. Fold the one side of the pastry over the sausages to meet the other side and press down, or use a fork to seal the join. Do this for each rectangle.

  5. Now you have two long sausage rolls. With a sharp knife, cut the rolls in to the sizes you want - big or small (depends on how many sausage rolls you want to have).

  6. Brush with the rest of the egg wash or soy milk, sprinkle the remaining 1 teaspoon of Louisiana Red Cajun Seasoning and the black onion seeds evenly across all the tops of your sausage rolls.

  7. Space out your sausage rolls across two baking trays and bake in the oven for 25 minutes, or until puffed, golden and cooked through.

  8. Remove from the oven and pop your sausage rolls on to a cooling rack. The, enjoy warm!
