Transport your taste buds with this easy-to-make Greek Gyros. The combination of seasoned chicken, halloumi or tofu, peppers, onions and fries in soft pita bread will make you feel like you're in sunny Greece.

INGREDIENTS


TO MAKE YOUR OWN TZATZIKI (CREAMY GYROS SAUCE)

  • 1 cup grated cucumber, squeezed dry

  • 1 cup thick plain Greek yoghurt

  • 1 tablespoon Great Northern Spice Mediterranean Herbs Olive Oil

  • 1 small clove garlic minced or grated

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar (or use lemon juice)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, fined chopped


VEGETARIAN & VEGAN OPTIONS

  • 100g Halloumi (V), sliced

  • 1-2 pack of Tofu (VE), sliced


FOR A VEGAN TZATZIKI

  • 1 cup plain, unsweetened non-dairy yogurt (to replace Greek yoghurt)


HOW TO COOK - OVEN

  1. Place the chicken or tofu into a bowl and sprinkle over 1 and a half tablespoons of our Gyros Seasoning. Add the garlic and a drizzle of olive oil, then mix well until everything is covered. TIP: If using chicken, leave to marinade for at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight.

  2. Preheat your oven to 200℃.

  3. In a deep baking tray, add the following in order: frozen fries, onion, pepper and the remaining half a tablespoon of Gyros Seasoning.

    If using chicken or tofu - splash over olive oil and bake for 25-30 minutes,

    turn over halfway through.

    If using halloumi, bake everything else for 20 minutes and add the slices of halloumi to the try to bake for 3 minutes on each side.

  4. Warm up your flatbreads, then spread on your tzatziki, add your shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Add your cooked Gyros ingredients on to the flatbread. Roll up in greaseproof paper, tie it with twine to serve it authentically and enjoy!


HOW TO COOK - AIRFRYER

  1. Place the chicken or tofu into a bowl and sprinkle over 1 and a half tablespoons of our Gyros Seasoning. Add the garlic and a drizzle of olive oil, then mix well until everything is covered. TIP: If using chicken, leave to marinade for at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight.

  2. Preheat your air fryer to 190℃.

  3. Add the following in order to the airfryer: frozen fries, onion, pepper and the remaining half a tablespoon of Gyros Seasoning.

    If using chicken or tofu - splash over olive oil and bake for 18-20 minutes,

    turn over halfway through.

    If using halloumi, bake everything else for 15 minutes and add the slices of halloumi to the try to airfry for 2 minutes on each side.

  4. Warm up your flatbreads, then spread on your tzatziki, add your shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Add your cooked Gyros ingredients on to the flatbread. Roll up in greaseproof paper, tie it with twine to serve it authentically and enjoy!
