This recipe pays homage to the versatile King Oyster mushroom, a favourite ingredient among food enthusiasts for its meaty texture. Add our Souvlaki Seasoning to elevate the flavours of the mushroom to new heights.




This King Oyster Mushroom Souvlaki Recipe uses the Great Northern Spice Co Souvlaki Seasoning.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons Great Northern Spice Souvlaki Seasoning 

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

  • 400g King Oyster Mushrooms, shredded

  • 1 red onion, sliced

  • Lettuce, shredded

  • Cucumber, sliced

  • Handful of cherry tomatoes, sliced

  • 2 Greek style flatbreads

  • 3 tablespoons tzatziki (optional, not vegan)


HOW TO COOK

Recommended: Marinate the mushrooms in the souvlaki seasoning for at least 2 hours before, or overnight.

  1. Add 2 tablespoons of Souvlaki Seasoning and olive oil to the shredded mushrooms and mix well.

  2. Preheat oven to 180℃, and bake the marinated mushrooms for 15 minutes in a baking tray until starting to crisp.

  3. With a few minutes to go, warm up the flatbreads, then garnish with the sliced onion, tomatoes, shredded lettuce and sliced cucumber.

  4. Add the mushroom souvlaki on tip of your flatbreads and serve.
